Here's a summary of my experience with the PVR-350. I did get it working under 
Suse, had to use Chris Kennedy's driver (I would quote the version, but I'm 
not at my regular PC now). I am now able to capture, and it works well. I 
don't use the tuner, just capture from camcorder and satellite TV over S-Vid. 
The CPU load is below 10% during capture (1.8GHz Athlon). 

The thing that I am finding out now is that most of the authoring tools assume 
that you are working with AVI. To make a DVD with chapters, I actually have 
to demux the mpeg2 and then remux it. So not sure what I have gained with the 
hardware mpeg2.

For next time I am thinking more along the lines of a dedicated box (1GHz 
should do it) and a KVM switch.
