Since last thursday my pvr-350 stopped working. I posted a number of messages to the devel list (subject: PVR-350, FC3 & IBM thinkstation) and I've contacted a few people who have the same issue.

Up till now I haven't been able to find a solution, and it seems that the people that I've contacted were also unable to find a solution (they aren't using those boards anymore).

I'm wondering what really caused this error to occur? If it is a hardware faillure then it would be nice if a clear statement about this could be added to the documentation.

I've tried the following:

   * using different firmware versions;
   * putting it in different PCI slots in 3 machines (MSI-7125, EPIA-V,
     MSI-6125 and IBM ThinkCentre S);
   * putting it in a windows machine. First it ran fine, then it found
     new hardware again and couldn't get the drivers to install;

I'm kind of running out of options and I'm coming to the point.

Do you think it would be usefull to add some more debuging code into the ivtv-firmware.c file, as this is where the action takes place. I'm not a programmer, but perhaps it would be usefull to be able to see the contents of the RAM as the driver scans for the mailbox. Or that some verification function is added to the ivtv_dec_firmware_copy funtion to verify that the image that has been written is actually in the RAM.

I'm willing to give people access to the board and / or fedex it over to somebody who is willing to work on the issue.

with kind regards,

Stefan van der Eijk
