the list should be made to be a 'closed' posting list - only people on the list can post. that will solve the spam problem.

It most probably doesn't have any. My guess is that the ivtv-users list email address got somehow on a list used by spam-relay-networks or some other worms/trojans/viruses. As long as sourceforge does not filter the
email on the server (which would be quite a formidable task to do),
every user has to filter their email on their own - bad luck, but
unfortunately that is probably the only choice[1]

[1] Except moving to a different email adress for the list, e.g.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] but this might soon also be on someone's spam list.
