Hello,
I have a PVR-350 card. After upgrading ivtv from 0.2.0-67 on kernel
2.6.10 to > 0.2.0-67 for kernel 2.6.11 I could not change channels. I
have seen where others on the list had the same problem. I tried several
versions of ivtv for kernel 2.6.11 and they all had the same problem.
Finally I found a solution.
By this time I had ivtv 0.3 installed (ivtv-0.3.6w-94.rhfc3.at.i386.rpm,
ivtv-kmdl-2.6.11-1.35_FC3smp-0.3.6w-94.rhfc3.at.i686.rpm,
video4linux-kmdl-2.6.12-1.1372_FC3smp-20050708_202133-58.rhfc3.at.i686.rpm)
so this is what I am going with.
The solution is to go to
/lib/modules/<kernel_version>/updates/drivers/media/video and rename
tuner.ko to something like tuner.ko.orig and then copy tuner-ivtv.ko to
tuner.ko. While I was at it I did the same for tveeprom-ivtv.ko (copying
it to tveeprom.ko after saving off the original). Don't forget about
msp3400-ivtv.ko (copy to msp3400.ko) which was an earlier solution to
fixing the mute problem.
Perhaps the package maintainer or developer should document this in the
README files. It would have saved me a lot of user-trial-and-error time
had these things been mentioned. Not complaining, just wishing. I am
grateful for ivtv.
Matt
