Thanks for the help everyone, it works. It's a little choppy, but that
will be the subject of another post.

You both were correct. I had two versions of tuner.ko and three versions
of tveeprom.ko.
Even without updating ivtv, it went fine. I was trying to stick to the
version that I had, because that is what I have an ebuild for.

The tuner autodetected at a type 50, so at least one of my guesses was
correct.
I tried removing references to bttv, but when I modprobe ivtv, it loads,
lsmod claims it is needed for
videodev, video_buff, firmware_class,v412_common,btcx_risc and tveeprom
