Not knowing anything about the code I can show my ignorance and advice
to use AntUnit and its assertLogContains assertion for the Ant tasks.

Yes, using AntUnit would be a nice addition to current Ivy set of unit
tests. However this works only to test ant tasks, and in other cases
the MockMessageImpl will help I think.
