What do You think about IVY-735 improvement issue (https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IVY-735)? It is about possibility to provide 'timeout' parameter for any resolver.
If resolver is "not responding" it should fail after that timeout (seconds, miliseconds). It will be very usefull for creating simple mirroring schemas - with chain resolvers, dual resolvers and standard ant mechanisms.
