\w is defined by the XML Schema specification (see [1]) to be:
[#x0000-#x10FFFF]-[\p{P}\p{Z}\p{C}] (all characters except the set of
"punctuation", "separator" and "other" characters)
Xerces' regex support needs to be updated to match this definition.
