problems with ' using Xerces-J-bin.2.8.0

Previously we are using Xerces - 1.4.3 and Xalan - 2.1.0 but now we are looking to use latest versions of these jars Xerces-J-bin.2.8.0 and Xerces-J-bin.2.7.1. When we had a test run for these latest jars we came up with the problem that "'" get converted to a literal apos (" ' ") in the input file after getting parsed. can you please let me know what could be the reasons for this changes.......
