*Job Title: Unix/Linux Engineer*

Work Location: Raleigh, North Carolina

Duration: Long Term

Rate $350 - per day



*Job Description:*

The global UNIX engineering team is responsible for the design, engineering
and documentation of globally deployed UNIX platforms. We are looking for a
new member in our team, helping us to timely deliver our platform releases.
We need your help to provide robust operating systems and infrastructure
components to our company-internal customers.
You will work closely with customers and peers, needing to influence key
stakeholders in the relevant area of expertise to support your ideas and
solutions. Internally, these stakeholders would include senior technical
experts within the global technology organization. Externally, you will
interact with vendor organizations such as Red Hat, HP, Oracle, Novell and
Symantec.

*Focus:*
 Scripting (e.g. automate Linux Platform installation)
 Spacewalk/Satellite management
 Puppet (create manifests)
 Security (harden OS)

*Qualifications:*
• Bachelors or equivalent degree in Computer Science or a related technical
field.
• 10+ years of engineering competency developed through practical
experience in design, implementation and operation of complex Linux / UNIX
environments and related infrastructure systems.
• Enterprise engineering skills with solid understanding of major
enterprise architecture frameworks.
• Self-motivated, dedicated and dependable.
• Solid Security awareness.
• Strong problem identification / problem solving skills, capable of
creating creative workarounds “on the fly”.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Specifically seeking for the following technical skills:
• Expert in Linux, Red Hat 5/6/7 (SUSE and Solaris is a plus)
• Rock-solid (!) in scripting: Shell, Perl, Ruby
• Strong in Networking and OS services (e.g. TCP/IP, PXE, DHCP, DNS, NTP,
Firewalls,
• Solid experience with Red Hat Kickstart / Red Hat Satellite / Spacewalk
• Solid experience with configuration tools like Puppet
• Solid understanding of Logical Volume Management (e.g. LVM2) /
Multipathing (e.g. Device Mapper)
• Experience with Storage Systems (SAN/NAS)
• Solid experience with Clustering, based on Red Hat or Symantec products
• Experience with Veritas Volume Manager and Filesystem
• Good understanding of Directory Services (AD, LDAP)
• Good understanding of System/Kernel performance tuning
• Capable of creating custom Linux boot images
• Experienced in RPM packaging
• Competent in virtual environments
• Experience with HP hardware is a plus
• Valid RHCE certification is a plus
