poll backend (nor FreeBSD build) is not very well tested/maintained.
As I do not run FreeBSD, I cannot debug it locally.
Could you try using select backend to see whether that helps?
Also, kqueue backend should be usable again in latest version (though
not tested by me at all ;-).
