Did I understand you correctly that you would have needed some guidance in using Bibtex? Do you have knowledge in programming? We would be glad if you contribute something in that direction. The whole documentation needs to be updated IMHO. Starting from screenshots, howtos, and FAQs. For instance, a FAQ might by "If I have an ISBN number, can I produce a Bibtex reference out of it"? For me, it's fine to go with the Biblatex thinking/interpretation of Bibtex fields.
