Hi,
we discussed a while ago what to do about donations. I received this
question from Joeran Beel a couple of days ago. Perhaps we should route
donations into this project?
However: After receiving the e-mail, I remembered the PayPal and Gmail
account I established to receive donations. After logging in, it turns out
the PayPal account wasn't properly activated, so the 7 donations received
in the time that has passed have been returned. Since I've forgotten to
watch the account I haven't seen the warnings about this. I think it is
sorted out now, but I suppose those donations were lost. I'm sorry about
that. I can send the login credentials if anyone else wants to help keep
track of the donations and other possible messages to this account. All
messages related to the returned donations are still there.
The bottom line in any case, I think, is that we receive too little
donations for this to really help Joeran's project, but in my opinion we
might as well put whatever small funds we get into the project.

Subject: Cooperation for an add-on to manage references in Libre/OpenOffice?

Hi Morten,
maybe you are aware of Docear4Word, an add-on that allows researchers to
insert and format BibTeX references in Microsoft Word
http://www.docear.org/software/add-ons/docear4word/overview/
We are now planning to develop some similar add-on but for LibreOffice
and/or OpenOffice. Right now we are in an early planning stage and are
looking for a capable developer. Once we found one we want to collect
donations to pay him. Some more information can be found here
http://www.docear.org/2013/08/14/who-wants-to-develop-docear4libreoffice-or-docear4openoffice/
I wanted to ask whether you would be interested in a co-operation because I
think that many JabRef users might also be interested in such an add-on. I
know, there is already an Add-On that allows JabRef users to connect to
OpenOffice but I believe that a new add-on based on the Citation Style
Language would have many advantages (in particular the very high amount of
available citation styles). Of course, if you were interested in a
co-operation we could also change the name of the Add-On. It wouldn't have
to be e.g. "Docear4LibreOffice", We could just call it "BibTeX4LibreOffice"
or, since it will be open source, we could call it Docear4LibreOffice, and
you could call it "JabRef4LibreOffice". Or whatsoever :-).
By "Co-operation" I mean that you help us finding an appropriate developer
and collecting donations. You wouldn't have to care about the
implementation or project management (except you wanted to).
Best,
Joeran
