Another newbie hick-up, please help:

When I download a citation from a journal interface, JabRef launches,
and I get the new entry on a separate tab. But I am not able to then
transfer the new entry to my main database (appearing on a different
tab). It stays on the new tab, and there only, and does not seem
to save into my database if I 'save' and close, and reopen it.
Surely there must be a way?
