Hello All,

I'm Jorge Tornero from Spain and It will be my first message to the
list. Here in my office at Spanish Institute of Oceanography at Cadiz we
are starting to use JabRef as bibliographic reference managing software
in our research work. Apart from this, I'm a little involved in jabRef
itself with its translation into Spanish, a very pleasant task I
performed las year.

Anyway, I was wondering if someone in the list has some directions
regarding how to cite scientific works inside software. I have made two
little pieces of software (see my repo in github,
https://github.com/jtornero) and I wonder how I could cite some papers
which I have used to develop the software inside it. For instance, in
the case o LWR2Weight, I use sample data from an scientific article, and
in other case (Transectizer plugif for QGIS), I use an algorithm from a
scientific paper to perform some calculations. How (and where) should I
cite these papers? In the license files? In headers? In a README file?

Any ideas/experience?

Thank you very much,

Jorge Tornero
