I rely on JabRef, but 2.10 has a number of bugs that by now annoys me so much that I find myself avoiding it. Mainly it has to do with custom types and changes of the built in entry types (such as bugs #1243, #1229 and #1141), but there are other problems as well.
As a lazy user, I have patiently been waiting for things to fix themselves with the next version, but there seem to be little activity regarding JabRef since the release of 2.10. So perhaps I should offer my help? I do know some software development, but I have never done Java. But perhaps there are other ways I can help and kick som developer's ass, like looking through bug reports, mark duplicates and prioritize a bit? :-) (I just realized that the project now resides on github, btw.)
