How about if I opened a Checkstyle improvement meta-issue in Jira? Like the Javadoc issue JCR-73, it could be used as a general label for simple style improvement changes that have no functional effects.
Checkstyle currently reports thousands of trivial problems like unused imports in Jackrabbit. Getting rid of these trivial issues would make the Checkstyle tool a lot more useful in spotting changes for genuine improvements.
