The sbt version issue entirely possible; I can find no documentation of sbt 0.14 anywhere, so I'm a little curious where that came from. That said, one of the changes that appears to have been made since I last looked was the removal of the `build.properties` file, which is supposed to control the sbt engine version used, regardless of the launcher version you have installed. I've restored that file, and would be interested in finding out if the release works for you next time around.
But it's also possible the instructions are wrong; at the very least they don't match what I have set up on my release machine. I'll try to make time to update the docs soon. All that aside, I have cut releases for 2.7.5, 2.8.0.rc1, and 2.8.0.rc2. I encountered a Null Pointer Exception when attempting to move to 2.8.0, which wasn't present in rc2; I suspect this is due to the fix for #1277 having some odd interaction with the Scala module's crappy use of TypeModifier: https://travis-ci.org/FasterXML/jackson-module-scala/jobs/144944997 I'm putting this down for now but I'll try and make time to figure out the issue this weekend.
