So, I was suggested something that seems like a good idea: consider
adding concept of Long-Term Support(ed versions/branches) similar to
JDKs.

(TL;DNR; some but not all versions could be considered LTS, kept open
longer than intervening "short-term" minor versions; expands timespan
of supported (oldest) version, gives users more predictability)
