Nothing definitive, but in general:

1. Releases wiki page --
https://github.com/FasterXML/jackson/wiki/Jackson-Releases -- and explicit
sub-pages do get updated
2. We try to tweet via @fasterxml
3. There is also `jackson-announce` mailing list (alas, not reliable used)

I would be interested in knowing which method(s) would be most useful for
users: I don't mind sending notifications, and learning better habits at
ensuring these get done. But I want them to be useful and effective; and as
of now I haven't gotten enough feedback to know which methods work best, or
are/would be most valuable.

One open question would be regarding target audience: automated systems vs
developers.

Also: if anyone knows of good integration features from, say, github,
please let us know. I try to keep version-fixed-in up to date, but don't
know if there are possible add-ons to help further.

Obviously any new mechanism to use would need to have very low overhead for
manual work. While doing a release takes a while (more for full minor
release, less for patch; but still anywhere from 1.5 to 3-4 hours, if there
are no significant issues) all additional work will feel progressively more
punishing. :)

Another possible spin-off is that if there is feeling that the decision
process for release is too opaque (which it is -- I decide when it makes
sense, and most of the time decide it with little outside input), I am also
open to adding some minimal process.
But what I do not want is process-theater with +1's sent by people who have
ceremonial role; that is, no process for sake of appearances. Extra process
could be as simple as my sending a proposal at least N hours before
publishing the release.
