If you didn't sign up for the OS X Yosemite public beta after reading our
preview yesterday, you should do it sooner rather than later. Apple has
just released the software to its Beta Program site, and people who have
signed up should be receiving their notification e-mails now if they
haven't gotten them already. Beta testers will receive a Mac App Store
redemption code for the software, at which point they can download it as
they would a standard OS X installer.

Further ReadingHow to create a test partition for the OS X Yosemite
betaSince this build of Yosemite is beta software, you should back up all
of your data and treat the release as though it could wipe out your entire
hard drive at any time. Time Machine is your friend. Use a Mac you don't
rely on day-to-day if you have one, or at least make a separate test
partition after backing all of your stuff up.

If you're one of the people who's going to run this on your primary
computer as your primary operating system no matter what we say, Apple has
said that the public beta build will be able to update to the final,
"golden master" build of Yosemite when it's finished in the fall. There
shouldn't be any need to completely reload the OS.

You can sign up on Apple's website(Opens in a new window) now, and the
company will send out a redemption code when the software is ready, which
you can use to download and install OS X Yosemite Beta from the Mac App
Store.

To try out Yosemite, your Mac needs to be running Mavericks, which is
available in the Mac App Store(Opens in a new window). "We recommend
installing OS X Yosemite Beta on a secondary Mac, since it may contain
errors or inaccuracies," Apple said. "Please be sure to back up your Mac
using Time Machine before you install the beta."

Running into this error message when I try to start the apps. Didn't work
on boot, so I downloaded JDK 1.8.0_40, still no dice. It's looking in the
proper location, the file exists and it's using the correct java version.
Not sure what the issue is, any help would be appreciated.

I got this problem when I try to lunch AptanaStudio 3.1 on OSX yosemite. I
google this problem for quite a lot and found that JDK1.8(64-bit) version
just does not support the Aptana Studio(3.1), maybe also not working on
some other IDE which based on the same skeleton of Eclipse.

Why I am answering this question is just to specify that it's OK to install
this version of JDK(which is version 1.6.0_65, 64-bit when I download the
package) alongside with the J2SE 1.8(provided by Oracle). So you don't have
to worry about there is any conflicts while installing two version of JDK.

I was also experiencing this problem because I had a 64 bit JDK 1.7
installed (the standard Oracle version - not the Apple version indicated in
the other answers) and had mistakenly downloaded a 32 bit version of
Eclipse. Doh!!

OS X Yosemite 10.10 might only have been around for a few short weeks, but
already, Apple has begun work on a future update to its desktop software.
OS X 10.10.1 beta has just hit the download channels, the details of which
you may find below.

*Finally, I am very delighted that the latest Plex, PlexConnect and
OpenPlex are still running on Mac OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite beta 1 with
hijacking Trailers,** iMovie and WSJ app!*

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to remove a paused App Store download. I
never downloaded OS X Yosemite Beta 4 and now my dock icon for Launchpad
shows that I have a pending download, when I click on it shows a pending
download and when I go into the App Store itself it shows that it is
Waiting...

Apple has today released a pre-release version of OS X Yosemite to people
who had signed up for the public beta program. Using the beta program promo
codes, you can now download Yosemite from the Mac App Store for free. While
the OS X Yosemite public beta lacks the much-awaited continuity features
allowing integration of OS X with iOS 8 powered devices, however, OS X
Yosemite public beta sports some notable new features. Improvements is
Safari, Messaging and Notifications are reported so far in the early
testings of the OS X Yosemite public beta.

After grabbing the OS X Yosemite public beta from either the Dev Center or
using your own invite from Apple, you have to follow these steps to ensure
safe installation. Or, you can also download OS X Yosemite from here.

That's all about it. Enjoy testing the very latest offering of Apple in the
shape of OS X Yosemite. Like many testers who have already reviewed the new
desktop OS, we hope that you too will like it. Be aware that there will be
a number of bugs and lack of functionality as it's just a beta release as
yet.

OS X Yosemite was announced and released to developers on June 2, 2014, at
WWDC 2014 and released to public beta testers on July 24, 2014. Yosemite
was released to consumers on October 16, 2014.[4] Following the Northern
California landmark-based naming scheme introduced with OS X Mavericks,
Yosemite is named after the national park.

Apple initiated a new public beta program for OS X, a practice not seen
with its operating systems since 2000's US$29.95 Mac OS X Public Beta,
which had preceded the release of Mac OS X v10.0. Yosemite is part of the
OS X Beta Seed Program, a public program that allows the first 1
million[22] users to download and test the Yosemite beta at no charge. Beta
testers are required to acknowledge the potential risks involved with
prerelease software, and sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).[23] The
program began releasing Public Betas on July 24, 2014.[24] Six public betas
of Yosemite were released.

This script reaches out directly to Apple and downloads all the pieces that
form the macOS install app. At the end it will install to a blank dmg
image. In the end you have a fresh macOS Install app in a .dmg!

How do I download macOS High Serra 10.13? If searching High Sierra in the
App Store comes up empty how can I download it? You have to visit the Apple
Upgrading to High Sierra Support Page for the direct App Store link.

We are off to the races now! The first thing you will notice is that
instead of downloading macOS Mojave Installer inside the App Store it opens
Software Update. Software Update will search for the Installer and ask if
you are sure you want to download the 6gb Mojave Installer. After clicking
download you will get a new prompt for admin credentials to start the
download (not to actually install yet). After the download completes you
will finally have the latest macOS installer.app.

I showed you how to download the macOS installer through the Mojave Mac App
store. The thing is, a better way to download the full installer exists and
is called installinstallmacos.py. I was going to explain how to use
installinstallmacos.py here but now realize the topic deserves a full
article. I did not even get into hardware specific (Forked) builds. As you
can see we have a lot to go over, so stay tuned. I will put the link here
when complete.

Download the latest version available, and extract the ZIP file, which
should reveal the script along with the resources used by the downloader
script. Then, open Terminal on your Mac and type the following command:
chmod +x

High Sierra is no more available in Mojave App Store. You need to update
the article. Also you can confirm if that is the case? Is there another
possible method to download High Sierra installer?
Thanks

I have tested on my own Yosemite machine but I still need more testing.
Could I ask the OSX users among you to download and run the installer from
www.cabrillo.edu/dbrown/tracker/installers/Tracker-4.87-osx-installer.zip
and let me or the whole group know how the new version works for you?

Just a heads up to anyone wanting to test the public beta. A number of
applications that run system daemons do not work on 10.11. I am personally
downgrading back to a stable release until more developers update their
applications.
