odd with VT-d, but I can't yet tell what it is exactly.

After that release, a major rework of ivshmem device is scheduled. A
prototype that supports multiple peers and has other optimizations of
the previous "ivshmem2" approach is almost ready, just needs patch queue
refactoring.
