FYI,

Some time ago, when I proposed J2EEUnit for inclusion in ASF, I was told there might be problems with the name because it was containing J2EE, for which there is a Sun trademark. So, I sent an email to Sun asking permission to keep the name. Here follows their answer. In the meantime I chose to rename J2EEUnit to Cactus, which is now the "official" name. It was a good decision to change the name as you can see below.

Cheers,
Vincent.

Dear Vincent,

Thank you for your e-mail message, and thank you for your interest and
support of Java technology.

Your proposed use of J2EE in your product name is not permitted under Sun's
trademark guidelines.  These requirements can also be found at
http://www.sun.com/policies/trademarks.

Products incorporating Sun's Java technology should not incorporate any JAVA
trademark, including J2EE, into the product name. If you want to indicate
that your product is based on Sun's Java technology, you may wish to use a
tagline, for example "(product name) for the J2EE platform."

Sun would be happy to work with you further to provide guidance or education
to ensure that you make proper use of Sun's trademarks.  If you have any
questions on the proper use of Sun's trademarks, Karrie Malouf-Hitchcock or
Shaler Ney in our Trademark Department will be happy to help you.  You can
reach Karrie at (650)336-7419 or by e-mail at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or Shaler
at (650)336-0095 or by e-mail at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

I have developed an open source framework for unit testing server side java
code. I have named this framework J2EEUnit
(http://j2eeunit.sourceforge.net).
Until now, it was hosted on SourceForge.net under a GPL license. I now plan
to
donate this framework to the Apache Software Foundation, under the APL
license.
They have warned me that J2EE is under a Sun trademark and that I might not
be
able to keep it.

A name change is a significant event in the life of a project and the name
fit
right with the framework. I feel that by contributing this framework to the
open
source community, I also promote Java and the J2EE platform. I'd like to
know if
it would be possible to keep the name J2EEUnit or if I have to change it.

Thanks a lot.
Best regards,

Vincent Massol
