Property utils HashMap vs FastHashMap

In propertyutils commons vs struts     HashMap vs FastHashMap

I was curious why FastHashMap was removed in favor of
HashMap. Since FastHashMap was moved to collections
it would seem like it could still be used unless all commons
libs need to be independant of each other.

I know at struts 1.1 we'll begin to migrate to commons,
and what impact if any would this have on performance ?
