Actually it's not surprising at all that he's never
heard of you.  :)  Component development is all about
finding that magical abstraction that's useful to lots
of projects.  The hope is that so many projects will
use these components, it will be impossible to follow
them all.  I've made quite a few contributions to
httpclient, but I don't follow Slide either.  :)

Unfortunately I agree with Rod about the API.  We're
trying not to tear up track, but it's an unreleased
component nonetheless.  Once it's released, it will
enter the normal cycle of major releases/minor
releases/bug fixes that are supposed to give good
choices of features vs. stability.  Right now it's a
beta, and it should only take a majority decision to
make changes.
