I admit I created the LCD samples by hand (copy + modify). Theoretically it would be enough to build samples for a single PIC since connecting an LCD to one PIC is not different than to another PIC. That would become 5 samples: 2 variants with the hd44780-4 lib and 3 with the hd44780-8 lib, all for a bigger (40-pins or more) PIC. But I think we should provide also samples for some smaller PICs, at least one sample for a 14, 18, 20, and 28 pins PIC. Building and testing these samples is one thing, maintenance is a different matter! It would be nice to be able to (re-)create 'm, comparable with the blink-an-LED samples. But the variations are bigger than for the blink-an-LED samples. I think a properties-table is needed to obtain a workable script. If you have suggestions: welcome!
