Greetings, To implement Ping, IP, and UDP over your SLIP would not be a big project. Whether it would be useful, other than learning about the protocols is hard to say. It would certainly be educational. I recommend that you download the smalltcp.zip file and take a look at ip.jal and icmp.jal to get a feel for the amount of work that would be involved. Then look at udp.jal - not much more work. chksum.jal could be simplified with JALV2 variables and math. netbuf.jal would perhaps be replaced with Matt's large arrays?
For Ping, IP, UDP, etc, documentation, take a look at the docs and references (some links are bad but the RFC numbers are OK) in Jal Ethernet on sourceforge. http://jalethernet.sourceforge.net/docs.html SLIP is old, but OK for a point-to-point link over wires. It might not be very be useful for wireless, since it doesn't provide a means for addressing a particular node. But perhaps it could be used with broadcasts or multicast schemes. I'd have to think about that awhile. William -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "jallib" group. To post to this group, send email to [email protected].
