Now, modifying the code, to include LED logic... I added the line, just after 18f4550 inclusion: pin_E2 = !pin_E228 bytes? That is 14 words, quite a lot, I think. It surely has something to do with shadow registers and/or glitchless transitions. In ASM it would be:
btfss PORTE,2 goto set_e2_low bsf PORTE,2 goto end_set_e2 set_e2_low: bcf PORTE,2 end_set_e2: That's 7 words, or 14 bytes on 18f cores. 5 words on midrange and baseline, as their goto's are only 1 word. However, when you're setting the pin, you might change the driving value on other pins of the same port due to the read-modify-write issue.
