Everything you need come in the package (IDE, compiler, libraries and examples). Everywhere you can read (on the compiler companies sites) "You should upgrade to the new version because it come with x features and fixes an y number of bugs".
So, anyone can upgrade and start porting his applications. Soon, a new version of the compiler will came with new features (records, pointers, or whatever) and we will start to use it and no backward compatibility at all. In my opinion, backward compatibility is a non-sense when the language is not mature. It gets new features and new keywords and, as long as it have the libraries with it (and a proper documentation), backward compatibility it does not matter. In fact, in this case the backward compatibility is a big stopper for jalv2 evolution.. The only important fact is the 100% functionality of the libraries on the current compiler.
