I'll try to reproduce your test and to understand why it behaves differently than you expect.
Apparently we need a better understanding of the possibilities of the alarm feature of the rtcc module! It is unrealistic to be able to build a general purpose library before we fully understand it. I'll try to make a table with all alarm-related parameters and for each combination of parameters a description what happens when alarm-time is reached. Needs some time ...
