I notice in the 18f2620 device file

var volatile bit    T1CON_NT1SYNC             shared at T1CON : 2

while this particular bit is named T1SYNC (without the N) in the
datasheet. Is the N is a type in the microchip device files?

In the MPLAB .dev file the bit is called nT1SYNC. The lowercase 'n' is probably to indicate the negative logic "not-in-sync". If you find other PICs where the same bit (for T1 or another timer) is without 'n' then we should rename one or the other to get consistency. Did you try to find others?

Regards, Rob.
