I've done a quick check with the only sample which uses this function 
(18f27j53_sd_card_minix_demo.jal).

Apart from a not measured saving in processor cycles, 300 bytes of code and 6 
bytes of data are saved with the new implementation. I didn't expect that much, 
but it may well be that those were the only divisions in that sample.

Compiled with -no-variable-reuse when the first try didn't finish after two 
hours.
