I think you mis-interpreted a picture. Pin1 connects to MCLR on the
target board, and MCLR must be pulled high as usual. I think the
(10-50K) resistor will probably be present on your target board and then
no extra resistor is needed. I 'migrated' from Pickit3 to Snap without
problems and without changing anything on any target board.
