Dear jalviewers.

Whilst everyone adjusts to restrictions due to the covid19 pandemic, we've
been working on getting the next version of Jalview ready for release. If you
would like to help out please read on !

Introducing the 'Jalview Test' application.

Over the last 9 months, we have been testing new versions of Jalview with
'Jalview Launch Files' (or .JVL files) that are automatically published for our
development builds on https://builds.jalview.org. JVL files are easy to use,
but we realised we could make it even for everyone to try out alternative
versions of Jalview by providing a 'Jalview Test' application.

You can download an installer for 'Jalview Test' from
http://www.jalview.org/getdown/test-release/<http://www.jalview.org/development/development-builds>

'Jalview Test' works just like the normal Jalview application, but instead of
the latest release it launches the latest build of the 'next release' version
of Jalview, with bug fixes and performance improvements.

Please try out "Jalview Test" and help improve upcoming jalview releases by
letting us know about any problems. The current test release is Jalview 2.11.1.0rc1, and
its release notes are accessible online at
http://www.jalview.org/getdown/test-release/help/html/releases.html

Happy Jalview-Testing !

Jim Procter, on behalf of the Jalview development team in the Barton Group at
University of Dundee.
