Hi Sha, I just saw this appear in our moderator list, since your email included
images which were too big to post to jalview-discuss.

Just to summarise:

You're on windows 10. You had an issue with java, and after
uninstalling/re-installing, Jalview didn't work. Uninstall/re-install lead to a
stacktrace in the flexera installer. It would be good to see that stack trace,
in full (you should be able to copy/paste it out of the exception dialog box
into notepad/etc).

Firstly - which version of Java did you (re) install ?

The remaining errors ('Error opening registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java
Runtime Environment', 'Error: could not find java.dll', and 'Error: could not
find Java SE Runtime Environment') all look like they are due to Jalview's
installer thinking there is a version of Java on the machine already, and
trying to use that. You mentioned that you have java enabled in your browser -
does that mean you can go to java.com and it reports that you do have java
available ? If so then you didn't really ininstall Java properly. Either way
it looks like something is up with your machine's registry re Java installation
keys.

I've forward this to Ben Soares - our specialist on installing/running Jalview
on windows. Hopefully he'll be able to help you out - perhaps by working out
how to force the InstallAnywhere Jalview installer to use its build in version
of Java..

Over to you, Ben..

Jim.

First I used to have JalView and it worked fine, but then I had to uninstall

on a Lenova computer and use chrome or firefox)

Then I decided to uninstall my Java and just reinstall Jalview that includes
Java in the one step process, but the following are the errors I got with that.
I have Java enabled in my browser.
