If everyone is still happy for me to do this, heres my proposed release
plan..
1/ branch cvs Friday 11th
2/ build the branch and release it as a "nightly" build
then if there are no -1's to this plan ..
3/ announce on the James site and the dev & users lists that the next
release candidate is available for testing, and in the absence of any
showstopping bugs will materially form the basis of release 2.0a2
4/ allow 1 week for bugs and feedback
5/ if there are no significant issues remaining build src-dist and dist,
6/ update website
7/ announce on:

8/ merge any changes in the branch back into the head of CVS
