Not sure, only that if you open a telnet session to port 110 and ctrl-c Phoenix/James it hangs until you close the open connection.
I haven't tried other protocols, or platforms than POP3 and WIN2K. I wonder if this may be a windows thing, as I've never seen it happen on Linux.
