Following up on http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg03450.html, I believe that the problem was in the MimeMessageWrapper class.
The mutators change the wrapped message, but the getters work from a cache.
The cache is never updated, so it APPEARS that the headers are read-only.
