Thanks Aaron for the detailed and helpful information. It does seem like a good habit to work directly agaist patch, but I wouldn't at all mind having sources along with diff as I do a cvs diff post patch but pre checkin. Your suggested patch process is a close second for me but of course as you stated contributions are more than welcome and patch is an excellent way to contribute.
