Few questions regd portability: Would James ever need to have a non Java version ? Should it be easy to port mailets to non java solutions ?
At present James only runs on Java (hence the J in name) but Avalon, Log4J and a lot of other Apache projects have been ported. Do you think this would be a concern a couple of major releases down and do you think Java mail as store would hinder ? I personally have mixed feelings about this portability concern of James but thought this is the best time raise this issue and get your comments. Would it be correct to say that James will stay as a Java solutions as the name says but Mailet contracts should allow for easier portability to non java platforms ?
