Absolutely not an oversight. I put the code in while I was synchronizing
HEAD and v2.1, but I did not want to even chance the issue of those in
v2.1.2. I'll enable them for v2.1.3a1 if there are no objections to
experimenting with them. But they currently are untested changes, and I was
trying to be conservative.
