If such a thing were to be included in James v3, I suspect that unless it
were considered fairly common, we're expose the tracker as a resource via
JNDI.

you do it. :-)
As I understand it, you have to change each mailet to
call your tracker,
anyway. Unless / until the tracker would be adopted
generally by James,
you'll have your own version(s) of the classes.

purposes, that's fine.
Otherwise, he might want to create a
GenericTrackingMailet for those mailets
that will use his tracking service.
