I am trying to write an application with the JavaMail API at the moment and thought it would be possible to test it with JAMES as server. My question: is it possible to use JAMES on a computer without any connection to some kind of network as I use a local web server with localhost? When I configure JAMES with localhost as DNS server JAMES starts up and I am able to connect to it via telnet but I am not able to login as root. I guess that is because of my configuration with localhost or am I already wrong here? I provided a new password for the root user and connected via telnet localhost 4555.
Any ideas? Thanks for any help!
