Hi,

I've had a look at the source (org.apache.james.smtpserver.SMTPHandler.java) 
and the SMTP rfc (the *official* standard), and it looks like James 
implements a subset of this protocol - probably the essential commands and 
not the ones that aren't in common use ("HELP" would come under this banner, 
I suppose).

The commands supported so far are: 
HELO, EHLO, AUTH, MAIL, RCPT, NOOP, RSET, DATA, and QUIT. 
I'm not sure of any plans to add to this list, although I don't imaging HELP 
being too hard to implement.
