Please stop sending your mails more than once!
As you might have understood by now, there is no problem in serving a
nonstandard port. If you configure JAMES to run at port 1234 it runs on that
port. Your problem is that if mail is delivered to the host on which JAMES
is running (regardles of which client is connecting it: sendmail, JAMES,
outlook, ...) they will connect to port 25 if not otherwise told (on which
of course no server is running). I know how to tell sendmail to deliver mail
to a nonstandard port but I fear there is no such feature in the
RemoteDelivery Mailet by now. It uses the MailAPI of Sun. I dont know if the
mail api supports nonstandard port, but if it does it should be very
straight forward to write a special Mailet sending to the nonstandard port.
You could also try using OS level network address translation (NAT). But
please recognize the fact that SMTP uses PORT 25! If you are talking to a
SMTP server you connect to PORT 25. There is no straight forward way of
figuring out on wich nonstandard port there might be a SMTP server running
if you dont know it. dont expect JAMES to scan the ports of another host to
find the remote JAMES.
I hope that helps.
