I had the same problem with mine as well.  I could not telnet to
port 4555.  I used Ostrosoft's TCP client to access mine.  When
it asked for the login, there wasnt any kind of login/password
designation. I had to blindly type "root" <enter> and then the
password I specified in the .conf file.
