True, though I don't know if it's a huge difference.  Just run in the
background (&) and detach the tty.  In any event I'm not volunteering to
write the thing so this is pure backseat driving, and since IMO backseat
driving in open source projects is nothing but a time waster, I will leave
my comment as just an FYI for people who _do_ plan to write a launcher.

Seems like a good starter for java programs might be a useful Strut.  I
have found this to be one of those PIA that crops up on every project.
EG, finding the JVM executable is a picky bit of code.
