Hi David, 1. IMAP is not included with the basic James install. It's still very much under work and should only be available by downloading the source code and building with that proposal. If there is some part of the site or docs that say IMAP is more than this, we should correct that (let us know where if you could).
2. I haven't heard other people have problems with adduser. What user repository are you using (if you've changed it)? Do you see anything useful in the logs? 3. Right now you don't need ant to build James as it is included as part of the source code tree (I think there's some bootstrap build). Ant is incredibly useful and if you aren't familiar with it, I'd highly recommend learning about it.
