this is your mistake..

it should be..

<repositoryPath>db://maildb/items/sent</repositoryPath>

where you have "protcol://connection-name/table-name/repository-name"

because.. you can have more than one repository in a table, eg:

<repositoryPath>db://maildb/archive/spam</repositoryPath>
<repositoryPath>db://maildb/archive/errors</repositoryPath>

inbox is "special" in that the table is named only and james names the
repositories to match the users.
(so in theory you could trivially redirect mail to a local POP account by
storing it in db://maildb/inbox/username)

(i've made some suggested changes to your config.xml)
