Hi. I've managed to get James 2.0a2 installed, plus the required JRA for Redhat 7.2 which it's all installed on.
And the thing starts & doesn't give any errors that I can see. However I have no luck at all telnetting to port 4555 as outlined in the docs. Telnet is working. I even installed the telnet server just in case it's needed (which I doubt but I'm starting to tear my hair out). When I attempt to connect, I get a message that says "Name or service not known". If I do a netstat I can see that port 4555 is there and listening. The Remote Manager log only shows stuff re. init, nothing about any connection attempts. Some details below: ----- netstat output (some deleted) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Active Internet connections (servers and established) Proto R-Q S-Q Local Address Foreign Address State tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:1024 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:4555 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:110 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:119 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:25 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:1024 0.0.0.0:* udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:862 0.0.0.0:* udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:111 0.0.0.0:* Remote Manager log ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Wed May 22 17:12:01 SGT 2002 [INFO ] (remotemanager): RemoteManager init...
